Lane usage when dual carriagways end 1383

Skoda Felicia 1384
says... Slow, wallowy, but comfy. Will hang on surprisingly well. SPi engine is simple and bullet proof, MPi engine got a better head, and came later, more Ooomph. Specialists are great for...

If 2 lanes merge into one and everyone is already in one lane what difference does it make, surley traffic wil lstill get into the final lane at the same same - plus it might be quicker and you dont have to do the alternate thing - now it might be better if there are so many cars that the queue is blocking off something at the back - i.e make 100 cars into 2 rows of 50... but if there is already a queue people may not be happy letting in people who bypbutt the queue go in front of them.

What I don't like is that when you learn to drive you are always told to stay in L1 unelss overtaking... peees me off when I stay in L1 and 2 lanes merge but its L2 that you merge into (normal roads, not roadworks) and then you have to squeeze into L2 (which becomes 1 lane)- not many round my way - there is a road around here which merges into 1 lane right in the centre - so its always a race from the traffic lights of about 30metres to see what car will go first!

the road set up is like this actually

^ 30m gap i i i

3 lane son approach - L1 is left only, L2 is straight and L3 is right and straight - dunno why they dont just make each lane 1 ways only - the road is mbuttive so tailbacks wont be a problem.... its the straight ahead that causes people to race off - wouldnt have that problem if each lane had one direction only.
