Hello,
Stuff like that is a waste of time if you have a think about how they work! The unit triggers when a laser is detected, but the beam from a laser is very narrow if you have ever seen a laser pointer for example. Now that needs to hit the detector with a high accuracy from a few hundred metres away. You would need to mount a detector on the numberplate as that's what the target usually is for taking photos etc. By the time the laser might have hit the detector it's too late as your picture has already been taken with the speed on it, so slowing down is pointless as you have been caught.

Radar detectors are slightly different in that radio waves at high frequencies will bounce off objects and trigger a unit capable of detecting them. You have more of a chance to take action.
I used a SNOOPER for a while and was NOT impressed as the LASER detector part of it was nothing more than usless. I was driving at 35 in a 40 limit and spotted a police car and a tripod on the grbutt verge. It was a laser speed trap, the unit didn't sound any alarm so I drove past a few times and eventually stopped. I was cheeky enough to ask what sort of trap it was and said my radar-laser detector had not gone off. The police man was bored so he pointed the laser device right at the car from around 20 ft away. The only time it triggered was when he stood directly in line with the detector and swept it from side to side and up and down until the laser beam hit it!

If you speed, you take a chance of being caught. Just don't do what boy racers seem to do and hang CDs from the mirror thinking it deflects the beam! Biggest joke I have seen for years, some motorbikes put them by the front light. How sad.
