Yes a lot of people are on cruise control which I take advantage of when lane splitting. If they are not using a cell phone, typically they are not doing anything dangerous when they are on cruise control. Driving is not typically an intense activity.

Lane discipline of drivers is usually pretty good, again unless they are using a cell phone. Good lane control of drivers is also something I take advantage of when lane splitting.

I have no idea what KRETP means and I doubt other readers know what it means.

There are no full automated driving systems out their yet, but partial systems have been on the road for a few years. This most common is automated braking to avoid collisions. Keeping a car with in a lane is coming to market now.

Your belief in everything will work perfectly if you follow the rules is absurd and totally false. The world is not that simple.

Actually I do have a problem reading and discussing queuing theory (that's the real name for the branch of mathematics...

The human mind is far more sophisticated than rules and we don't know how to build anything that approaches the human mind. In traffic if you try to live by the rules you will probably die by the rules because you are not using your intelligence to survive.
