Light Rail Myths and Realities 4957Oh, now you are going to discuss again. Of course not, it's no longer free flow when the lanes are blocked. That's the point, poor lane discipline reduces capacity. It...
Light Rail Myths and Realities 4958How about this: Although, he buttumes KRETP in his analysis. Being from a nation of more displined driving (Japan) that is understandable. He does realize that it varies from place to place...
In My Experience. How long have you been posting to usenet?
You're going off the deep end again twisting and strawmaning and trying desperately to attack me personally. What do you have against Keep Right Except To Pbutt? Why is that such a horrible concept that you have to construct the above? What is so wrong with actual cooperative driving rather than the willy-nilly use of any lane anyone chooses at any speed under any conditions?
Light Rail Myths and Realities 4955Poor lane discipline cannot impede free flow conditions by definition. Poor lane discipline is irrelevant to capacity because it isn't possible to measure in near capacity conditions...
Please explain why the German autobahn, not to mention other nations which practice KRETP (or left in the UK and other nations that drive on the other side of the road) have such success with it?
Are you one of those pbuttive aggressive control freaks that get upset with anyone who pbuttes them? Or one of those 'it's my god given right to use whatever lane I want types' who doesn't care about anyone other than himself?
If you want to know what I kind of driver I am, pretty much like the average driver in Germany I figure. I pay attention, I keep right, I accelerate and make smooth merges, I am ready to go when the light turns green, all those little things that if everyone did them driving would be far more pleasant, and why I'd rather drive in Germany under any condition than almost all conditions in chicago. I remember traffic coming to a stop on the autobahn. Everyone turned off their vehicles to wait, some got out. It was nice June afternoon evening, so I did the same. Quite pleasant. No fighting for position, no battles.... then people up front go back in their vehicles and started, it was time to go. We were back up to 90mph in no time. Even a construction zone jam, packed in with the trucks was so much less stressful than here in Chicago. Sure we were moving slowly, but nobody was going to cut me off, nobody was pbutting in the acceleration lanes or on the shoulders. Everyone behaved well. It was a joy compared to anything but a nearly open road here at home.
Why oppose KRETP? why do you find it so asocial and selfish? It's been demonstrated to be nothing of the kind to anyone who's traveled some.
