Or they could've removed the body and belted it into a vacant seat. But with most flights being packed to the rafters ever since dereg- ulation, there may not have been a vacant seat available. Or if there had been, it might've been in a row that was otherwise occupied. Now, sitting next to a dead guy wouldn't bother me, as long as I had the aisle seat -- at least he wouldn't be a talker -- but it would make a lot of folks uneasy.

Hey, I know! They could've dragged him up front and strapped him into the chickenpit jumpseat. The pilots could've retended that they were being given a line check.
