No doubt about it. Being tired also does the same thing. There comes a point of diminishing returns. That point was reached previously and now it is just plain stupid to continue.

Zero tolerance is stupid because you can have a drink with your meal and not be so impaired you can't safely drive.

Prosecuting them once they are caught is possible. It would be catching them all that would be impossible. You would come closer to catching them all if you had cops patrolling the road instead of tied up at a roadblock location harrasing non-drunk citizens. Not to mention that those cops patrolling the roads could be enforcing other laws and acting as a crime deterent at the same time.

Larry Bud Which is exactly why I object to the BAC model of determing who is safe on the highways...

Perhaps, but if the statistics the Op posted are correct, those people at the .08 level aren't showing...

Punishment is not minimal. Ask someone who has been caught if they got off easy.

How many people do you know that get drunk on one beer? Most of the drunks who kill are well over the old .10 BAC limit. Most often you read of those folks being muliple times the limit. The person who has one beer and drives is not huring, let alone killing, anyone.

Great, impost that limitation on yourself. There are many people who can have one beer and drive prefectly fine.

If your logic were true why is that the worst drunk driver offenders are repeat offenders? Even after they lose their license and pay huge fines? ------------- Alex
