The thing is, Dan, every truck driver on this ng is used to a very simple concept- specifying a vehicle to do a particular job. So my spec was......
Reliable large-ish car capable of carrying family and large amount of gear, easy to maintain myself, cheap to insure, cheap for parts, fast and fun to drive (2.0 GLSi with RWD), capable of standing somewhere for a month without depreciating.
So I chose a Sierra, which cost me £300 four years ago, has done the job perfectly and is still worth £300 today.
And a Sierra is a very distinctive shape- it was named by The Times last year as a "design clbuttic". You have to remember that when it came out, "three-box" was the norm and had been for over 20 years.
You should also bear in mind that most people buy a car because they "like the music in the advert" or have some middle-aged fantasy about the blonde pbuttenger like the one in the advert...............
I am sorry if you have taken the hump, but you started it by saying I should get out more. Believe me, I get out.........
