Helmets are usually worn on the head, not on arms or legs. If you DO wear them there, then you must expect those sorts of injuries.

Was it HER choice to not wear a helmet, and even if she had, would it've stopped her NECK from breaking? If so, please explain the mechanics of that thinking.
Now THAT makes perfect sense. ASKING someone to wear a lid is good. Demonstrating a good reason is also good, but simply MAKING someone wear one is BAD.

Sad as this story is, it doesn't make the point. You niece (or whoever's niece) broke her NECK and even if the lid could've saved her, she STILL shouldn' be MADE to wear one of she doesn't want to. It's all about choices and I don't need a bunch on lard arsed politicians making judgement calls on my behalf. As it happens, they did over here in the UK so EVERY rider has to wear a helmet, but that doesn't make it right.
