Brent P and what are the dangers you face? and is so get one that fits properly...

Bicycle helmets are not effective. Their protection ability is so limited I could write a case for a requirement to wear them when climbing stairs that would show as much or more life savings potentional as wearing them while riding a bicycle. Then I could write an even more solid case for helmets in a car. Of course both would be ridiculed. Bicycling is not a dangerous activity, no more than climbing stairs or riding in an automobile.

Yet, do gooders who wish to make the risk-benefit analysis for other people decide to use representive government as a weapon against people who think differently from them. This must stop. I choose not to wear a bicycle helmet because it won't do any good for the dangers I face and is not comfortable and causes more problems than benefits.

It's called a cost-benefit or risk-benefit analysis and in a free society I get to make that for myself. The moment we no longer own ourselves, is the moment we no longer make these decisions for ourselves and it's the moment we cease to be free and become children of the government. And as a child have no freedom beyond what the parent grants us. This should never come to pbutt, but the control freaks like yourself simply cannot allow other people to live their lives without being bounded by your fears, rules, and judgements.
