Silk brought next idea :
No, I well remember learning to drive by innocently watching the actions of others. I then went on to teach myself. Bicycle, motorbike unaccompanied on L plates - motorcycle test - three wheels with a full licence. The latter taught me to drive four wheels and I simply borrowed a car for 4x wheel the test and all at the first attempt.
Underuse of brakes 5459Which says 102: Coasting. This term describes a vehicle travelling in neutral or with the clutch...
So as indicated, I have never in my life had a driving lesson, though I have subsequantly taught many to drive and with 100% success (a first time pbutt every time).
The last person I taught had failed three times and spent thousands on driving lessons with three different instructors and did not even have the basics under his belt. I took him on empty trading estates and taught him car control from scratch, then spent weeks having him drive all over the country on A roads, until the whole thing became second nature to him. He is now a perfectly adequate and reasonably safe driver, though I did have early doubts that he would ever get the idea.
You see I am perfectly capable of driving using the pull-push (push-pull) method as well as teaching this plus all the other things that the testers are looking for. I still use pull-push on cars with no power steering and I don't have to think about it, I just do it.
