My car is diesel, and I pay about 2.25-2.40 per gallon for No #2 diesel, I fill up every other week or so. I get biodiesel from a co-op for about 2.25 per gallon- its made from heavily used, recycled cooking oil (its very dark, but seems to run just fine). If you live in a state that actually has a refinery, its alot cheaper for diesel or gas. My cousin in Oklahoma said diesel is around the same price as regular gas there. Here in Florida what I pay for diesel is about the same as what regular unleaded is costing at many places. Close to the airport and tourist attractions, the price of gas can go up above $2.50 or more.

What I don't understand is if gas going up just because its the "summer driving season", why is diesel going up as well? Here in Florida diesel used to be $2.05-2.10 per gallon during the winter (regular gas was about 1.80). Demand for home heating oil should have dropped down alot by now. That's why I don't buy this explanation- I think the problem lies at the rising price of crude oil and the lack of refineries... and also: specialty fuels. In some cities they blend the gasoline to be low evaporative- it adds about 30 cents to the price of gas. Restrictions on fuelling up during the hottest part of the day would have the same effect, and cost alot less.
