NIP arrived. 932

I just went back and drove the road again to see where I was caught out. It has been confirmed to me it was a revenue camera.

Leave Harlow on the A414 towards Hertford. The road is 70mph dual carriageway for a couple of miles. The first camera sign is then clearly visible on a left hand bend. Couple of hundred yards further on is the first camera.

I certainly wouldn't need a camera to tell me its time to slow down, but It is protecting a crossroads where traffic from either side comes through a gap in the barrier to turn right. Site lines are good, with the road quite straight approaching it from the east. Certainly this length of road is not good for much more than 60mph.

That first camera is pbutted then the road climbs slightly, enters a shallow left bend and then starts to descend slowly. The camera that got me is then visible in the same field of view as the NSL 100 yards past it - there is nothing else to protect!

It is not good to miss the camera, but I bet drivers come off that bend, see the NSL and as they have pbutted the danger behind, they accelerate. That is more than likely the mistake I made. I will try and get some pictures (it was a little to dark tonight). The picture will clearly show the camera on the left and NSL on the right in the same shot.

After the NSL it is 70mph for several miles to the A10.
