We got off the boat at Igoumenitsas, drove across the mountains via Meteora to nr Mt Olympus, then down through the mountains to Delphi, across to the Peloponese, most of the way round, and back up to Iggy for the boat back.
The roads were not "dangerous". Even the ones with vertical drops and holes in the guard rails. Even the ones with potholes you could lose a donkey in. They must be safe, because a whole bunch of us managed to drive them without any accidents.
The locals, on the other hand, are utter f***ing loons. I think my personal favourite was the tosser in a very ratty ol' Datsun that shot out of a side road, overtook me on the pavement, then immediately chopped in front of me to turn right across the bows of an oncoming wagon.
