The drivers do not change the physical construction of the road, but they do affect the element of danger buttociated...

but you are going too far the other way.

I agree.

Not really. Depending on the sightlines on the road, you have a greater or lesser chance of being able to see (and avoid) any nutters on the road...

BTW I also rather wonder how often "lost control" is accurate either, or at least meaningful. Driving a modern car at other than suicidal speeds how do you come to lose control? I'm a fast driver, I've *never* lost control as I understand the term. To me it means the tyres losing grip and the car sliding out of control, what does it mean to you? I see it in reports of accidents in the press where it would appear to be often inappropriate. I've seen one accident where it would have been used, the actual cause was the driver clipping a kerb while cornering too fast which flipped the car. It seems pointless to say he lost control, he steered badly and was too fast would inform us of what happened. "Lost control" tells us no more than "crashed".

accident - unintentional mishap, mistake. OK you prefer incident because you are keen to blame. "went out of control" is plain wrong, cant say I see it much in articulate written text. "dangerous" can apply to driving or to inanimate objects like a road. To insist otherwise makes your point of view less credible, not more credible. Its clbuttic PCism, which just irritates people rather than convinces. -- Mike Reid
