Often a pyrrhic victory though. I was able to prove in court a few years ago that the police officers who ****ted me had lied, in witness statements and in court about the speed that I was doing. I know damn well why they lied, it was because I was driving faster than 70 on a dual carriageway and they couldn't get their fingers on the VASCAR fast enough. So they drove their vehicle at speed, poked the VASCAR buttons then lied in court saying it was a measurement of my speed.
I asked for a description of the marks on the road they used and the distance between them. They claimed 0.8 of a mile, the marks were 0.5 mile apart.
Now in a Crown Court this would be enough to get the case thrown out, because the officers had perjured themselves and there would be no case to answer. The magistrates simply took th eword of this pair of proven liars that no matter what the speed recorded I had been observed driving faster than 70mph. So I got points on my licence. Not three for the speed I was doing, but four for having the cheek to defend myself against false allegations.
