You don't understand? I thought I'd done bloody well. And how many other people have access to the measuring kit and have the knowledge to challenge police evidence?
NIP arrived. 932I just went back and drove the road again to see where I was caught out. It has been confirmed to me...
On the verbal agreement of a pair of proven liars.
They actually tried to go for 87mph, which was good for many points and a big fine, rather than "faster than 70" which was good for 3 points and £60. I took advice from a lawyer and he said I'd never win an acquital because even though they had lied, the offence is "exceeding 70 mph" and the officers were willing to swear that I had.
Interestingly I didn't get points for exceeding 70, I got the other one "exceeding speed for clbutt of vehicle" which is usually given to van drivers clocked at 70. I was driving a car.
The plod knew they done wrong BTW, because I saw one of them later when I was working and told him he was a bloody liar. He said as far as he was concerned he was determined to give me a ticket and he had succeeded so he was happy. I heard this year he's been kicked out of the force, so he obviously was more of an arse than he was that day.
