Not meaning to quibble you over that, but I'm not getting why it's easier to use the foot brake over the handbrake? Is the slope upwards or downwards?

I've found since driving an auto, that it's made me drive much more like when I was learning to pbutt my test wrt the handbrake - I now use the handbrake a lot more when I'm driving a manual car, compared with how I'd let it slide (not literally!) a bit. I have found I'm more likely to subtley ;-) suggest that my wife uses her handbrake when it would help, when she's driving, because of using my handbrake more since driving an auto for a few years.

I did find when I first started driving an auto (around 5 years ago) having solely driven that car for around 8 or 9 months, that I had to concentrate a lot more, and felt less confident when I first got back into a manual. Since then, I've made an effort to regularly drive a manual, and now do so more than drive an auto - and feel better for it.

Ideally for me personally, I'd still be always driving an auto - but I don't want to lose the confidence or being comfortable driving a manual.
