No Clutch Shifting 3105
The common terms are "rev" or "match" shifting. Almost all semi-truck drivers "float" the gears. This is fine with a transmission with no synchros... not so good otherwise. My Borg-Warner Super T...

Going up isn't *too* difficult. The speed of the engine falls as you let up on the accelerator until it matches the new lower speed it needs to be at for the next higher gear. And one some vehicles fitted with blocker synchros (a version of syncromesh that prevents the dogs from engaging until there is very little difference in speed between the gear and the shaft to which its being locked) you should be able to upshift without that much trouble.

Down is more difficult, as it is necessary to accelerate the engine while the gearbox is in neutral to get the engine up to the new *higher* speed and then at just the right moment, slip into the new gear.

There's really not a lot of point in learning how to do it, though. Yes, it can be done, but in the process of learning it, you're going to grind the dogs a lot (unless you've got blocker synchromesh).
