You don't seem to acknowledge the difference between panicking and seeing that others were panicking and correctly drawing the conclusion that fuel was about to run out. Where is the panic?

They took the same action based on *fear* that the fuel *might* run out, I acted on the *fact* the fuel was about to run out.
You have forgotten what I said. I said I take my wife to the *station* as she has a slipped disc. How is she going to cycle or walk with a slipped disc? The staying at home option, i.e. not working, might indicate to you why some people found having petrol important.
Correct, I didn't panic. I dealt with a situation that arose.The imminent closure of all petrol stations due to panic buying.
The real point is that the situation will happen again when there is wind of a shortage unless government puts measures in place to stop blockades. It seems that happened to some extent so repeats are now less likely. No other action by individuals like you and I will solve the problem. If we had both bought fuel or both not bought fuel the outcome would have been the same. It would be nice is the population at large held their nerve in situations like these but they don't. Do you remember the sugar "shortage" entirely created by a rumour? That caused panic buying for something you don't even need! -- Mike Reid
