I concur entirely. We are the only (putative) First World country in the world without national health insurance, and this has worked to our decided disadvantage. We spend roughly *one-sixth of our GDP* on health care; France spends less than half that, and has a more effective system of delivery. The problem: Administrative costs, and the need to spend more when citizens couldn't afford timely care.
This has practical ramifications rippling through the entire economy. The cost of each domestic car includes $1,500 in health care for retired autoworkers, which means that they can no longer compete with European and Asian imports. Do we have to lose a Ford or a (God forbid!) General Motors before we wake up and recognize that we can no longer afford this travesty?
This should be a Republican issue, but the leaders of the Party care not a whit for the common man. It's everyone for himself -- religious nutters who believe in extreme Darwinism.
Attorneys are rarely the problem. The evolution of our out-of-control judiciary is the primary problem afflicting our legal system, as the law has become so malleable that there is almost never any reason to take a matter to court. If we knew that precedent was precedent, and could be relied upon in every case, there would be fewer cases going to trial -- and *FAR* fewer appeals.

All the attorney does is endeavor to use 'the system' for his clients' advantage. But our system is so broken that it no longer deserves to be called a legal system -- and for their acquiescence to this development, attorneys (as officers of the Court) deserve all the opprobrium that has been heaped upon them (and more).
