help on driving licence endorsementswas This happened to me the other day. A section of road that had always been 40mph was changed to 30mph overnight. The first time I went through it, at night, the 40mph signs had...
While I can't deny that I might have been doing the claimed 35 in a 30 zone, and will inevitably suffer the consequences, it makes an utter farce of North Wales Police's "Arrive Alive" campaign North Wales safer by encouraging people to keep within the speed limits." Fair enough. But how are they doing this? By clocking people with a camera (or whatever it was) which is not listed as one of their permanent or temporary cameras, so I couldn't have know about it. I thought the idea of publicising the locations of the cameras was to encourage people to slow down. By not making it obvious where it was, it means that: 1) I travelled the next 200 miles home unaware and therefore probably also exceeding posted limits 2) Considering I only travel that way about once a year, it's not going to make a whole lot of difference. So apart from boosting their campaign fund by another £60, what will it have achieved? What does it say about their statement "itās not about raising revenue, itās about saving lives"?
Whatever the psychology, one thing that does make me check my speed are those signs which light up when you are over the limit, or ones which say "Speed limit X, your speed Y". I don't know if they make a difference overall, but they sure make me slow down, even though I know there is no fear of getting caught with those devices. Maybe my £60 should go towards some of them.

Final note. Yes, I know if I stuck to the limit all the time, I wouldn't get done. And advertising the locations of cameras only encourages people to speed where they know there is no camera. Won't stop me whinging though :-)
Now, who do I make the cheque out to? Ouch!
