The original post was about a driver who was worried that he had been 'done' as he was approaching roadworks late at night when there didn't appear to be anyone around by a Talivan parked on a motorway bridge a kilometre away.

With arbitrary limits that often bear no relation to the safe speed for the road and conditions, it is quite often possible for 'normal' drivers to be unaware if they are exceeding the limit or not. Witness the ripple of brake lights before Gatsos even when drivers are at or below the arbitrary limit and driving at a safe speed.

My beef with people is when they come on here and unpleasant woman about how badly they've been done to because they've broken the law and got caught. My stance is that iniquitous laws and over-officious enforcement of reasonable laws ruins the respect most people have for those laws, and that people who pontificate about other people exceeding speed limits for their vehicle and then posting the following, "I've had trafpol go sailing past me in a morning on the A614 as I was doing 50 on a SC NSL section.
