On Getting a Ticket in the ArkLatex

Last time I got pulled over the the Ascension Parish (LA) Sheriffs Dept, the office called me on the PA and told me to stay in the car. He approached my car in the same manner as officers in every other state I've been ticketed in.

Maybe it was just that cop being lax?

Compared to the cops in San Diego, these guys are actually courteous. (Unless you've got out of state tags). And there are a lot less of them everywhere. So sloppy driving is easy to get away with here compared to there. Things like not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign, not using turn signals, running red lights, speeding, unsafe lane changes, running with parking lights on instead of headlights, tailgating. Basically everything that peees off a good driver :) Sometimes I wish they had better enforcement of those things here. Those behaviors are so common here that they become ubiquitous. You hardly notice people doing them.

If you're an aggressive driver, Louisiana, particulary the large metro areas, is like Disneyland. Very little enforcement except for speed traps on roads that are underposted (very infrequent) and late at night when they're looking for drunks. Then every rule is enforced. Much more productive for them to enforce when they may catch a drunk, money wise compared to a sober speeder.

Funny how some people manage to be angry even though they're totally responsible for causing a collision Post #1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Well, there's a problem. Today, after dropping Mandy and I off at school-work, Rob...

Now, the situation you described has happened to me (or almost happened) in Louisiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, West Virginia, South Carolina etc. I think its a universal truth that small town cops set their speed trap right where the limit changes. I don't know about the NE though. I rarely saw cops up there once I got away from Boston and off of I-495. (portsmouth NH excepted).

Just my 2¢
