I shall return to this...
You are, for once, quite right. I now see (having re-read the original news story) that I was confusing and conflating this case with another which happened on the south coast.
No-one now (in this case) - see below.
But when I made this same (mistaken) claim a week or so back, no-one - not even you - challenged it.
Quite rightly.
In that, you are correct. However, it has been "mentioned" (and not, until now, challenged) several times during this thread. It is possible that those who claimed it were making the same mistake I made.
If the car wasn't stolen, he'd almost certainly have been traced by one means or another. It is possible that the gentleman acted in an entirely virtuous manner. But don't let's construct a virtue out of necessity.
That, I strongly suggest, is unlikely - at least in the case of his grandparents. But as I have said, I was confusing this case with another, equally notorious one, where the facts were not even in dispute. Mea cilpa.
I have mentioned nothing about race. I never do.
Now that we have the confusion between two cases cleared up, let's consider "buttumptions".
First question: Who was it who "The "car thief scum" was once a little toddler who quite obviously didn't have much of a future.."?
Second question: On what (other than buttumptions) can that have been based?
The offender's surname?
