Overtaking

Whenever I overtake a car I do it as fast as whatever I'm driving will take me, limit or no limit. I have had situations where those being overtaken have speeded up, but I've never IIRC had to speed up further because of this.

Are you sure "the privateshead" was speeding up 'cos of being overtaken, or simply speeding up because he could now also see "as I went over a hill I could see quite far down and there was no traffic for as far as I could see" too? You might simply not have anticipated his speeding up to match the road conditions now opening up allowing a higher cruising speed.

Some people, when driving up hills and around blind bends slow down somewhat more than others, but it doesn't mean they're any safer or more observant, or that they're deliberately holding you up. They maybe simply didn't see you and didn't expect an overtaking manouvre on what would appear to them to be a dangerous bit of road, so when they get to a more open bit they speed up, still not suspecting you to overtake them.

Paul - love That's a sensible policy, but there comes a point (more applicable when overtaking streams of traffic) when the speed differential is so great that you have a large danger zone in front of...

Maybe it's you who are "the privateshead" and in the wrong for overtaking where and when you did.

You don't mention the width of the road. NSL60 roads vary from those just wide enough for one car to move in one...
