There are few people with this mentality - who try to bend the rules. I think the term is "maverick" and this mentality has made a few people like Richard Branson rather successful. The reason people like Branson can be so successful is because everybody else just follows the path of least resistance and as has been shown in this thread, despise people who attempt to push the envelope.

If you don't ask, you don't get so go ahead Mo, ask and see if you get because you have nothing to lose.

Look at it like this, the parking penalty raising after someone can't afford to pay it immediately is a bit unfair. Hypothetically speaking, the owner of the brand new Merc parked next to Mo's fiesta that also got a ticket could afford to pay it straight away and therefore saved money, money that people like Mo could do with a whole lot more than the owner of the new Merc.

As I suggested in an earlier post, it can be expensive to be skint. I've been there.

I also think that this post has attracted the usual self righteous bigots to stick their oar in. I'd hazard that those with the biggest oars are also the biggest hypocrites. Mo's not trying to wriggle out of paying the fine full stop and has shown a willingness to pay now that funds are available.

On the other hand I've no problem with ribbing Mo about other posts such as picking up banger E30 BMWs or getting a Fiesta through an MOT =)
