Police Speeding 833

This is insufficient information to say. I would simply do what is necessary to get out of the way of both of them. my speed would be one that was appriopriate for the conditions.

All cars are either stationary or travelling at speed. I would much rahter be in a car travelling at 70mph in lane 3 of the M1 than a stationary one in the same place.

Pre-speed cameras, the national road rest toll reduced year on year. This was attributed to improvements in vehicle safety and medical advances. Coincident with the...

Indeed. if your wheel chair was on a footpath you might be reasonably safe. In lane 3 of the M1 you would be in extreme danger.

Depends on where they are. But I reccommend that people who do not watch where they are going avoid using the roads altogether.

Why not? Most of the time we get it right. When we don't. it is usually because of conditions, and nothing to do with speed limits. You don't need to exceed a speed limit to have and accident, and in most cases people don't.

I want to make acceptable progress yes. But not if it endangers me or anyone else. I value my neck you know.

Because speed limits are set by people who are not there at the time. I am there at the tine and am in a better position to judge what is aand what is not safe. In heavy rain or fog, the motorway speed limit of 70mph is much too high. in good conditions on a dry road, much higher speeds can be safe.

I see this as another attempt by the pro-scamera brigade, who use misdirection like "regression to the mean" to "show" that cameras save lives: The number of vehicles was also increasing rapidly...

Inappropriate speed bvasically means that you cannot stop in the distande that you know to be clear, taking into account both real and potential obstructions.

First, sorry for the shoddy snip. Do you know the road from the Forth Road Bridge to the...

Agreed, there s no excuse for tailgating - it is far more dangerous but much less penalised than speeding.

In the same way, there are thousands that exceed speed limits every day without incident.

And there are also thousands that travel past speed cameras every day in perfect safety, and yet have to pay a fine and have their licnecnes endorsed.
