Exactly, if what Dan said was true the police would be constantly pulling over and ticketing anyone who does more than a couple MPH over the limit. They would be doing this all day long throughout their entire shift. They wouldn't be sitting there and letting people go past that are doing 5-15 MPH over the limit. Instead they wait until they get bored or until someone is going obscenely faster than the rest of the traffic.
Why they would have to be honest about road taxation and increase registration fees to collect the additional money required to maintain and operate the roads equaly from all those who use the roads. Gee whiz, doing something respectably, honestly and with integrity, what a novel idea. Of course that'll never happen given the pigs mentality.
Agreed. As I said, if it were to instill fear to prevent exceeding the speed limit they would be operating around the clock non-stop ticketing speeders. There's certainly no lack of people to ticket. Of course fear and punishment is not a good way to modify behavior at all. It only creates resentment for those who brought on that fear and punishment, and in some cases anarchist thoughts and movement. If people are made to understand the logic and reason behind a particular law, such as a 55 MPH speed limit on a 3 lane divided highway with shoulders, rumble strips and barriers on the sides, and all turns being rather gentle, then they will be inclined to obey that law. Most everyone sees the logic and reason of stopping at red lights, it's a safety issue. Red light runners are very dangerous, and are in the minority. Most everyone sees the logic and reason of a 25 MPH residential speed limit, so people driving thorugh neighborhoods will normally obey that speed limit and putz along at 25 MPH or less, those going faster than that are few and far between. The answer to achieving near total compliance with the speed limit is to educate people on the logic and reason behind it. Like I said, explain why it's dangerous, unsafe and risky to drive at 75 MPH on that highway posted at 55 MPH I mentioned that seems to be built for much higher speeds. People will do waht is in their best interests, and personal safety is at the top of most people's lists. No one wants to get into a nasty auto accident and get mangled up and lose limbs or be end.
