Camera Partnership try to silence broadcaster
The Chairman of The Kent & Medway Camera Partnership has hit back at the person who caught him speeding. Two police officers turned up at the home of the...

If you have been observing recent posts, you will know that a group have been turning the cameras on to the speed camera partnerships themselves.

The following happened quite by accident. A speed camera operator was under observation in a well to do area of Kent. With the aid of a radar detector it was possible to observe electrically when the operator 'fired' his radar speed detector at approaching cars. It became obvious after a while that quite blatant speeders were getting through OK, but that certain cars were being zapped WHATEVER speed they were doing. The cars targeted were all expensive or sporty looking cars. For example sleek black sports Mercedes type cars were all being zapped. A bright yellow sports car was zapped even though it only looked as if it were going at 30 mph. Hatchbacks were almost never zapped and a boring estate went through like a rocket but was not zapped either.

Sneaky mobile phone tracking

I know this sounds like an extrordinary claim, but after 60 minutes of observation, it seems that a prejudice was at work. Perhaps we can speculate on what his problem with sleek expensive cars is? A small factor but worth considering, is that when the camera operator was tracked, he was eventually seen driving away in his own car. A very plain, a very very boring and extremely slow 1960's or 70's banger.

This made the team of observers wonder if a man with his finger on the trigger would target blacks?, people with long hair, or vehicles known to be buttociated with certain individuals Could he also use his local knowledge to protect friends, police or significant local people. Just think for a moment, who would you zap? Maybe they've even been told, don't hit the post office, don't hit buses. I really beleive there is a powerful case for investigation here, because speeding statistics from vans, may not show the true picture of who is speeding, the most.

This will not relate to fixed camera of course, as they trigger on speed only, not a pre-judgement by a human.

Another point is that when the government bans radar detectors, this survey will no longer be possible. It will be hidden from view.
