I am not a Bush supporter. And I am all for helping the hurricane victims. I am not for using federal dollars to subsidize stupid behavior. In my home state I get mad every time I read about the Feds subsidizing flood insurance for people who build houses on the NC Outer banks. One day a storm is going to wash those houses away and in all probability the Feds will help pay to rebuild them despite experts warnings that it is an unstable environment. Likewise I think building neighborhoods in a hole that is below sea level in a hurricane prone area is, well, stupid. Now if the people of New Orleans want to bear the costs of building and maintaining neighborhoods in an obviously problematic location, I won't stop them. However, I don't think I should be taxed to support this bad idea. Now maybe I don't understand the situation in New Orleans. Maybe you can sell me on the idea that rebuilding the city in a hole is a great idea. Personally, I am all for funding a general relocation of everything below sea level.
And personally, I wish they would bring all the guys back from Iraq and send them to La.
