Putting your ego away

slower back', 'hand and

Yes, I often say that my travels are virtually hbuttle free, but I must admit I came unstuck this morning on the A1 southbound in West-South Yorkshire.

The traffic was fairly light but there was this guy ahead of me in lane 2 (of 2 lanes) very slowly catching up a lorry in lane 1. The gap between them was about 200 yards, so rather than sit behind him I temporarily moved into lane 1. He was making such poor progress that I gave him a brief flash of headlights from my lane 1 position (still behind him) to which he responded with a gesture of some kind!

Anyhow he eventually pbutted the lorry, but by this time there was other traffic ahead so he stuck to lane 2. A few miles further on he moved to lane 1 and exited onto the A630 heading for Rotherham-Sheffield. As he did so I went past him and received a further gesture of a not especially pleasant nature, and that was the end of the matter.

It was not all the sort of exchange I normally have with other drivers, quite disappointing in fact. Was I too impatient I wonder, with my original request for him to get on more positively with his overtaking, or move over etc? Maybe so.

Cool it DK. :-(

Best wishes all, Dave.
