But the BBC is a public service broadcaster that should seek to educate as well as entertain. It says so in its charter. Most of the adult population are drivers and the BBC has no other motoring programme. So it should educate through the one it has as well as entertain.

But doesn't produce anything like the power or torque of the 407 I'm sure. And doesn't do 0-60 in 9.5 seconds I'm sure. The same engine in the Focus does even better...

After they end off Tomorrow's World and changed the format of Top Gear there is nowhere on the BBC to find out about developments in cars. For example, what is the latest news about fuel cells? Apart from petrol, diesel and LPG, what other alternatives are practical? I have heard about compressed air and methanol from fermenting plants, but not through the BBC.

There is a lot more that could be covered rather finding out about the latest offering from Ferrari or discovering how well a 'C' list celebrity can drive a normal car which isn't sold in great numbers in the UK. I remember they had the Maybach on the programme a few months ago and JC wrote about the new version in the Sunday Times last weekend. The last I hear MB only sold one Maybach in the UK. That is what I call a niche market.
