I experienced an extremely aggravating situation coming down State Road 77 from Globe to Winkleman to Tucson in Arizona. That is of course the dreaded "parade" scenario--one driver going about 20 mph on a curvy mountain road stubbornly refusing to pull over to let others buy. The length of cars was over 50.
This is a reminder--you have no moral right to do this. Your moral obligation is to move over. You are NOT there to experience the scenery at everyone else's expense. Just because you want to drive 20 mph and eat up an entire afternoon does not mean everyone else wants to. How DARE you impose.
I do not know if AZ is one of the states that tickets for this. Frankly, even if it is, I don't think the penalty is high enough. I am THIS close to saying that for 2nd offenses it should be a felony, with 5 years of jail as a possible punishment. Maybe that's going overboard, but certainly--this is a VERY hugely aggravating situation for dozens of people involved stuck behind these drivers, and the message needs to be delivered--we're not going to tolerate it. You need to remember, your desire to "smell the roses" and your buttertion that I need to do the same NEVER excuses this outrageous behavior. Those pull-out exits are there for a reason--use it.
I dare say--if someone is being bull-headed about it and won't move, I'd love to see a "fall guy" situation occur--where the car immediately behind decides for the sake of all behind him-her to physically rear-end and physically damage the offender. You know, "take one for the team." Naturally of course that is a lot to ask--and honestly, I wouldn't. But wouldn't it be great to see the message delivered that emphatically that we're not going to tolerate this nonsense?
Of course, if the police would target this situation much more aggressively rather than the petty crap like someone going 40 mph in a 35 mph zone (where 35mph is too slow anyway), if these people were made to be held accountable for this nonsense--we wouldn't need or even want "fall guys." More than that, if people wouldn't commit this atrocity to being with, better still.
