.RLC tickets are considered equivalent to parking tickets;no drivers license points are usually buttigned.Often, the RLC ticket cannot identify the driver of the vehicle.(especially in no-front-plate states)
.Other drivers do not SEE the RLRunner getting pulled over and ticketed. Thus they still see a driver "getting away with it",OTOH,seeing a real police officer writing a REAL ticket with REAL points has a direct effect on their driving, and probably not just for RL running but for other moving violations also;they SEE police enforcing the traffic laws,a good thing. IMO,this is an most important reason not to use RLCs.
.After being caught by a RLC,one does not get the ticket immediately,it takes a week or more. The driver completely forgets about that particular violation in that time, and the ticket has less effect on their driving. Also, one could run many RLs in that week's time.
.RLCs increase rear-end accidents, and allegedly the overall number of collisions where they are in use.And they really do not STOP RLRunning, they just tax it.
.Since the RLCs "free up" police for other tasks, guess what they will be doing? Not writing up other hazardous moving violations and improving the public's driving, nor aiding motorists in distress, but operating radar-laser speed traps for revenue collection and improving insurance companies bottom lines(the ones who -donated- the radar-laser guns).
