Restricted To 65mph

I think that restrictions are not needed. I do however think that better education on the use of motorways would be better. There are far too many times that you see a car hogging the middle lane.

80mph limit on M-ways backed by AA Mark Townsend, transport correspondent Sunday May 8, 2005 Britain's 70mph motorway limit must be scrapped...

Only yesterday I was tavelling north along the M6 (Towards Preston) where the motorway has 4 lanes. There was a Citroen Van in the middle being driven by a woman in the third lane doing 65mph, completely oblivious to the world around her.

I like to use the first lane when at all possible and over take accordingly. It is funny really, next time you are stuck in traffic on the motorway take the time to notice which lane travels fastest. I bet it is the first lane.

PeterE 'flat-out' Bert If very few cars could exceed 70mph then what was the point of the limit? Some could have exceeded it, but they could've just overtaken. If the...

Better education of road use is all that is needed!

As for allowing 2.0L engines to be the maximum yet allow turbos and superchargers, that wouldn't save oil reserves at all. I know my 1.6 Volvo S40 can do 120mph and at that speed will drink petrol like it is pop. The only true way to save our oil supplies is the change the way we fuel our cars. We already have solar cars, hydrogen cars, LPG cars and electric cars, but they just can't compete with a standard petrol or diesel engine. Hopefully there will be a car that can help to save the oil reserves, the earth and our pockets. Fuel prices are scandelous!
