Reversing an artic

Mike G says... Actually in many cases it can be. I doubt you'll have noticed if the trailer had rear steer or he lifted his mid axle or whether it was a 2 or 3 axle unti and if it was a 3 axle unit, whether the second axle was a steering one or not.

Funny you should say that, as I did look for an obvious explanation of how he could manage where others couldn't. There was nothing his rig had that others didn't The tractor unit had a sleeper cab with 2 axles and 6 wheels. The trailer had 3 axles with 4 wheels on each axle, without rear steer, so the whole outfit was nothing remarkable. He simply used the space available better than others. Positioning his rig better when he stopped, which enabled him to make the turn without reversing. Mind you, with his cab at right angles to the trailer during the turn, the trailer wheels ripped chunks out of the asphalt surface of the car park. Within a year or so all of it in the middle of the car park had virtuall disappeared.

And he'll have been a left hooker so would have a completely different option for reversing.

Engine failure
Twas driving to Stratford Saturday morning when on the A46 at Coventry this people carrier (didn't notice the make) joined the...

Dunno about that. In this car park, this particular driver never needed to reverse. He was a regular visitor, but no more so than a few others. Mike.
