Inertia. I was recording another program at the time (I can't recall which one, because I've obviously recorded something else over that one) and left the video running with an E240 tape in it, so it recorded everything on BBC2 until the tape ran out.
so that dim ****s like McKev can see how f***ing awful it was. It shows up that "Top Gear" remained as what it started out as, a propaganda vehicle for Austin Rover, for far too long.
The entire tone of the program is gut-wrenchingly sycophantic about the British motor industry. What peees me off about those days is that I recorded it when I was working next door to John Barnard's Ferrari factory and living close to the Benetton team factory. I'd just moved to the area after living close to where Ginetta's were made and I knew that around Britain small companies were making damned good cars and also that just about every F1 car and a large proportion of Indy cars were being built in the UK. Mention of this on Top Gear of the day? None.
All they did was to plonk on about the Austin Ambbuttador, the Metro etc.
