I hear what you are saying in terms of trying to be helpful, but it's hard to see how somebody driving on the wrong side of the road can have priority.
How I normally deal with things being if I arrive at a similar situation, or pinch-points in roads were the signage actually gives me priority - if the car approaching is already there, what's the point in making their life difficult? If however, they have had time to observe you approaching, and have had opportunity to pull over find a gap, then really they should, and you probably could attempt to buttert your priority. Not sure what good it would do you, though...
The people who annoy me aren't the ones that may have just gone through expecting a little understanding - that's only human - it's when you get a situation like that, and numerous cars follow them through, in a sort of chain - in the knowledge that they can't easily be interrupted - that's just taking advantage and overruling the correct priority on the road.
