What personal experience? A few crazy riders? There are equally plenty of crazy drivers on the road, do you not notice these?

The rest rates are higher, simply because a motorcycle can be riden in a very dangerous way, plus the fact that the rider is not protected by a cage, plus the fact that those who drive cages regularly fail to see bikes or are completely unable to judge their speed.

The vast majority of rests and injuries on motorcycles are the result of mistakes made by cage drivers.

You make far too much of TV and newspaper headlines, try reading the actual statistics.

No, it means that a great deal more skill is required in the control of a motorcycle than of any other vehicle. There is little room for the slightest of errors and it needs several times the level of concentration you would use on four wheels - to both avoid the natural hazards, plus the errors of cage drivers. You have to become superb at reading the properties of road surface, or you quickly end up on your backside in the road.

I always find experienced motorcycle riders, become the very best of cage drivers, because they have a much more highly tuned level of observation skills - can judge a road much more accurately - drive more defensively and don't drive with a feeling of invincibility.

Of all the hundreds of motorcylists I saw last weekend, only one of them was being riden in the style you mention. I have already described both my clash with him and how far he got that day.
