The skills one has after pbutting the driving test is one thing. The skills one can, or should aquire, after possibly decades of driving are something else. Ask yourself. Where did these 'advanced driving techniques' come from?
You cannot teach experience. Even after a course of advanced driving, a driver still need experience to get the full benefit of that training. Only when it becomes second nature does it truly become effective. And that can only come from experience.

IMO safety. I driver.
If the driver is never involved in an accident, they are by definition a safe driver, though as you say, not a good one. :-)
No. They come from experience, and an interest in mastering the art of driving. Like many other drivers, I like to think I've learned from my experience and altered my driving habits to take account of them. After decades of driving, I, along with many other very experienced drivers, probably already have many of the the skills you regard as advanced.

Roadcraft 5516There are different aspects to the 'system' of advanced driving. Some (such as MSM and gearchanging techniques) are fairly prescriptive. Most, however, are simply making drivers aware of things to look...
I agree. If a driver doesn't learn from their experience, maybe they do need tuition. OTOH there are those drivers that do learn, and become good drivers without any specific training. There seems to be an buttumption by those who promote advanced driving tuition, including yourself, that unless a driver has had some form of advanced training, they are by definition worse drivers than those that have. I couldn't disagree more. Mike.
