In San Diego over the past few months there's been a rash of rock-throwing incidents on local roads and freeways. Even though there's been one rest and they seemed to have good evidence, there's been no convictions yet.
For background see also:
Last night on I-15 near Aero Drive someone, in an apparent copycat incident, threw a rock at my friend's car. It bounced off her hood first, fortunately, and did not cause too significant of damage. She got the full plate # and description, and is going to file a police report tomorrow morning. She already has been in contact with her insurance company as well.
So, a few questions: Anyone know what will happen to the person who threw the rock at my friend? Is it likely police will prosecute based on her word and the damage to the car? Again, from what I know of the previous incidents it sounds like a copycat rather than the original buttholes.
Also, if you're driving in the San Diego area be alert to your surroundings. Every incident I'm aware of has been reported at night, and the offending vehicle in every case has tried to speed away.
Most drivers have not pursued them, but if anyone witnesses this happen or has it happen, please at least try to notice even a partial plate and vehicle description.
