Nothing to do with being a "good citizen".

that sort of thing is dangerous to not deal with.

Erm, no, there would be a pile of summons in the name of someone who didn't live at the house. Wouldn't have anything to...

Sure, it would eventually become clear that they were being sent to the wrong person, but by that time, you might be finding the heavy hand of the law knocking you up for failing to attend court. Which is inconvenient and embarrbutting, if nothing else.

Well every time I have bought a car, I have either been required to provide a bankers draft, which would be traceable to my bank, or I have had to provide documentary proof of name and address for the seller to copy onto the registration document, rather than just relying on me to tell them.

Admittedly, I have normally bought from care dealers, rather than privately, but I know damn well that if I was selling privately, I would want butturance that I was really going to get the money.

I would not be at all comfortable selling several hundred (or even a few thousand) pounds worth of vehicle without any means of tracing the buyer. -- Alex Heney Global Villager Honk if you love peace and quiet. To reply by email, my address is alexATheneyDOTPLUSDOTcom
