You clearly do, in thinking that there is a point to the SORN system, when there's overwhelming evidence to prove that there isn't.

SORN scam 887Yes, how very f***ing observant of you. My point was, that I've actually come...
That it might *not* be off the road? Well, it may well not be. Just as a vehicle that's been declared SORN may well not be off the road either. As I've said, ooh, only about twenty f***ing thousand times on this thread already, the sort of people likely to drive untaxed cars won't be put off in the slightest by a slightly stiffer penalty for driving a SORNd car on the road, compared to the previous penalty for driving an untaxed car on the road. It just means they're more likely to simply not register the vehicle in their name, causing even more potential problems down the line.
In what way does it do that, any more than the normal road tax reminder, sent through the post, did?
But mbuttively increases the likelihood of people registering their cars using a false name and address, meaning that if they do cause a serious accident, with several people possibly injured, and then drive away from it, the police will have even less of a chance of finding the driver (or keeper) of the car that caused the accident. Is that a good thing, because that's a very real consequence.
