SORN scam 887

Yes, how very f***ing observant of you. My point was, that I've actually come out with valid reasons as to why it's a big pile of pooe, and you haven't.

You'd think so. But SORN fines just don't happen overnight. They take a good few weeks, months even, to come through (such is the 'efficiency' of the system), so someone getting done for driving without tax would simply say "sorry, forgot, I'll tax it as of the beginning of this month", and it'll be the same as before. It's only if it's been untaxed for a good 2-3 months that the SORN fine system will come into play anyway.

I've had SORN fines come through for cars I've sold and been lazy about sending the log book off for - I don't think a single one's come quicker than at least a couple of months after the tax expired. So remind me how this system's so remarkably effective?

Why does there need to be though? Isn't *not* taxing a car good enough for the authorities to buttume it's off the road?

As for scrapping it, well you may have a point, but the bit on the log book's been in force for ages now, and as before, a lot of people don't bother with it. They'll just take it down a scrappy, and hear no more about it. If, for whatever reason, a speeding-parking ticket comes through, they'll write to DVLA saying that they scrapped it back in lovelove lovex, and that's that, then learn for the next time to do the paperwork properly.

I know people that know of people that do it. A lot of people probably do too.

And they still probably will. The SORN fine system isn't *that* efficient, you know. I have in my hand here a "Failure to relicense vehicle" letter saying that...
