Oversimplification may be easy but it keeps you ignorant. Weather prediction is actually quite good these days considering all the variables. Hurricane tracking has certainly improved. It will never be perfect but what is? In many ways it's easier to predict slow climate changes than short term weather. Trends reveal themselves, given enough time.
Scientists are well aware of old warming cycles. In fact, they are the only reason right-wing parrots know about those cycles. Rush Limbaugh doesn't have some crystal ball that they lack. Why limit yourself to the knowledge of a guy with no expertise in the field? That is, if knowledge is your true goal here (we both know it isn't).
Unlike right-wing Creationists, scientists are sophisticated enough to know that different factors can cause the same thing at different times. You can heat a kettle with a wood-fire OR natural gas. Conservatives have always had problems ascribing more than one cause to a given situation. They have turned Occam's Razor into Occam's Lazyor: "If it makes me doubt what my daddy told me I don't wanna hear it!" -or- "If it says that Man can actually harm nature it goes against God!"
Today's warming is logically man-made because we have measurably increased concentrations of greenhouse gases. If you dispute those measurements, go out and take your own; that is, if you have a clue how to do it. The climate IS warming and will continue to warm as long as greenhouse gases keep rising. Right-wing greed cannot change the physics of heat exchange.
