Brimstone

I don't know where a motorway comes into it. The officer here was going at high speed on all sorts of roads, including through residential areas. While the chances of him coming across anyone at that time (including a blind chap) are slim, there is still a chance. About 6 years ago I was stopped for speeding (which I was endorsed for) and used a similar excuse, "Well what's the chances of that happening?" The officer who pulled me pointed out that a drunk, dog or other animal could've walked out. Presumably if this could've happened to me, it could've happened in this case too.

Cutting Up Why 1667
Mike G presented the following explanation : There are several errors I try to make obvious, to those making the error. Amongst them.... 1. The right turn corner cutter...

I have no problem with this guy doing 159mph when the situation merits it. If he's undergoing further training, or if involved in a pursuit. However I don't think it's right he just takes it off his own back to whizz around the streets on a jolly. Nor did his colleagues who reported him.

Ian snip snip It is important to recognise that a conviction for careless driving should not be dependent upon the careless driving causing a rest...

This was raised the last time on this thread. With him being a firearms guy, I don't think there's any difference between him doing this in his car, or taking his gun out at 3am and firing practice shots off at trees. The second wouldn't be acceptable, so why should the first be. This chaps judgment as a police officer is misguided.

I'd guess it's possible for Joe Public to get the same level of driver training as a police officer by paying privately. Would you be happy with someone with the same level of ability taking to the roads at this speed to 'familarise themselves with their car'?
