Serious Road Accident caused by a Dog 1460

nonsensical physics

No. I build the engines for them and have spent a fair amount of time on or around race tracks but I wouldn't call myself a racing driver. I'd also have to say that most clubman level racing drivers might well have vastly better car control than joe average but that doesn't always translate into better road driving skills. They might be inch perfect in correcting a seemingly terminal tail end skid but don't always spot hazards that could otherwise be easily avoided. Ultimately it's the physics of the situation that determine whether it's possible to avoid a crash and if the physics say no then it doesn't matter how good your car control is. However if your hazard awareness is so good that you managed to anticipate the situation before it became terminal it can become avoidable.

Pompous I know but I'd rate my hazard awareness as very high. In the top 1% of what is possible maybe. My car control skills are, as a result of what I do for a living and many years of practice and training, higher than average but nothing like an F1, touring car or other top end racing driver. -- Dave Baker
