"Willingly" is not a good choice of words for a start, and I don't have only the toddler to consider. I have myself, my pbuttengers and other road users to consider. The driving beforehand needs to take account of conditions and location. Nobody should be driving fast if pedestrians and-or toddlers have been spotted. The worst case result of a swerve could be the toddlers lives but others die. A pre-practiced reaction to this scenario is the best option, but any thinking time at the point of the hazzard is welcomed. If one has time to think and decide a swerve will work then swerve, but I would say in the majority of cases there may not be any thinking time available.
