Should bikes be registered 417How do you do the "saving"? Is their situation better off after your encounter better than it was before? If the Israelis stopped planting the Lebanese would that be "saving" them (as TV news often...

Its a fact that when a ton of metal hits a cyclist they are probably end, but that doesn't mean motorises are to blame. Many cyclists behave with total abandon for the most basic rules of the road and expect motorists to avoid hitting them. How can I be blamed for a cyclist zooming out of a side turning and flashing in front of me with inches to spare. They may have a rest wish, but I'm at risk of a heart attack with the shock of it or a pile up if I have enough time to react to brake.
I really do not understand why cyclists have a beef to grind with motorists. 99.999% of motorists have at least very basic road sense, unlike most cyclists. Cyclists cannot read the dangers of the road and then blame anyone else they can when its goes wrong for them. I suppose one clbuttic situation would be a driver not checking mirrors and opening a car door as a cyclist pbuttes, but if I was riding a bike, I'd be aware of the situation as I approach the car parked with a driver still in it. I'd be watching the driver and either keep out far enough to avoid a suddenly opened door or slow down, speed up or get off and walk on pavement. Cyclists are not aware of the limitations of visibility in a car or even more so in a larger vehicle. They go down the inside of a HGV waiting at lights to turn left and to add insult to injury stop in the blind spot. Only because of large clusters of blind spot mirrors and the decent HGV driver checking mirrors continuously are they saved from crushing. When do we get the credit for saving 1000's of cyclist lives every day due to their daft behaviour and our care and perception to see the danger they are heading into. As motorists, we are having to look out for cyclists like a parent trying to take care of a toddler and when you compare the skill levels between a motorist and the average cyclist who has never taken a driving test, it is just that.
