Such a rampage is usually pretty strong medicine and usually fairly effective; it just takes time to get going. Once going, you get a boom then a bust, then slow recovery until the lefties get elected once more.
What we have at the moment with Bliar's bunch are a very, very strange group indeed. You have lefties ruled by two-faced de facto Conservatives, with added corruption and an overwhelming distrust of everyone, coupled with deep insecurity and a desire to control and measure everything.
